DANCING IN HISTORY. Located in the Historic Civil Rights District in the legendary A.G. Gaston Building in Birmingham, Alabama, Ursula Smith Company provides quality and trailblazing movement in dance productions, dance education and dance training to the local and global communities . After her namesake Ursula Smith Company has been presenting dance excellence for 20 years and is recognized throughout the dance community for contributing excellence in the performing arts.
MISSION. Ursula Smith Company’s mission is to cultivate the artistic capacities of individuals through dance productions, dance education, and dance training.
VISION. Ursula Smith Company’s Vision is to be an epicenter for the performing arts in a way that impacts generations to come by creating platform for aspiring dancers to train and perform that will foster confidence and discipline in all areas of life

“To dance with destiny is to live in purpose” is the mantra that Ursula lives by. Ursula Smith has an overwhelming passion to use dance as a source of inspiration, education and communication for people of all ages. Ursula has 20 years of dance experience and has been mentored and studied various dance forms under the tutelage of Laura Garrigues, Jomo Xulu, Abdel Salaam, Theodore Jamison, Dr. Joan Burroughs, Mama Nahgerees, Melvin Blak and Darlene Cockrell.
